cPanel Hosting Requirements

Posted on Thursday, February 24, 2011 in Hosting Control Panels

People wanting to use cPanel hosting need to bear in mind several requirements for this to work. The minimum hardware requirement for installing cPanel/WHM include a 266 MHz processor, 512 MB RAM (with 1 GB RAM suggested when the user has many accounts), and 10 GB hard disk space. Oracle VM VirtualBox, VirtualBox OSE,Virtuozzo, VMware Server, VMware ESX Server, Microsoft Server 2008 Hyper-V 3, OpenVZ (stable releases only), KVM, Linux-VServer, Xen, XenEnterprise, XenExpress and XenServer are the supported virtual environments for cPanel. Meanwhile, compatible operating systems include Red Hat Enterprise Linux versions 4.x, 5.x; FreeBSD-RELEASE versions 7.3, 7.4, 8.0, 8.1, 8.2; CentOS versions 4.x, 5.x; and CloudLinux 5.x. cPanel also supports configurations and software drivers that run under Microsoft. Nevertheless, cPanel recommends that people who wish to install cPanel use a system that exceeds the minimum hardware and software requirement stated above, especially for those who wanted to use a multiple number of accounts and domains. cPanel is also designed only for commercial hosting. They do not provide dynamic or sticky IPs.
